Pakistan’s former head coach Waqar Younis submitted his report to the PCB in which he wrote about all the reasons that why players re not performing and why the team is going low in the rankings. Waqar mentioned a specific incident about Ahmad Shahzad.
Waqar in his report wrote that after Ahmad Shahzad was struck in the head by a bouncer from Kiwi medium pacer Corey Anderson, the confidence of Ahmad completely shattered out and it never came back into Ahmad.
He also wrote that the only reason Ahmad is not performing in international game sis that he fears the ball now. His mind still holds the memories of that incident and as a result, there are dilemmas created in his head.
This incident happened in UAE where Pakistan was playing against New Zealand. Ahmad hit a beautiful hundred and was playing really well. But then all of a sudden he was tested with a nasty bouncer by Corey Anderson.
Ahmad wasn’t expecting this bouncer and he was too slow in moving his arms to hit a pull shot. The ball came in and hit him at the back of his head.
The impact blacked out everything for Ahmad. His bat fell onto the wickets and he was on the floor the very next second. The physio came in and helped him recover a bit. Ahmad was literally crying on his way out of the ground.
Waqar and other sports analyst who think that Ahmad after this incident has changed are true. Ahmad lost his touch after this blow and now is clearly seen struggling against international sides. He was to get rid of this nightmare and has to take a fresh start.
