Boom Boom Afridi’s first and final SIX for Pakistan

Way back in 1996 Boom Boom Afridi hit his first six for Pakistan in international cricket. The 20 years journey started against Sri Lanka has ended in the T20 World cup game against Australia. Afridi played against Australian in the T20 World cup in his last match.

Over the years, Boom Boom was the sound to hear in the cricket matches whenever Shahid Afridi had come out for batting. His batting has won several crucial matches for Pakistan as well. Shahid Afridi was not a genuine batsman. He was introduced in the team as a replacement leg spinner.

Getting the chance, Boom Boom scored world’s fastest century in his very first match. It was an unbelievable innings by a 16 years old youngster. Afridi batted along with Saeed Anwar against Sri Lanka and won the match for Pakistan. From There on, Shahid Afridi was stamped as a pinch hitter in the Pakistan team. With time and experience, Afridi also get the place in Test squad.

Shahid Afridi also became the part of Pakistan cricket which won the Twenty20 world cup. Boom Boom also became captain of Pakistan one day cricket team but was not able to continue very long. Afridi was part of Pakistan team touring India as well. He has scored his quickest test century against the Indian blowing. No batsman has ever hampered Indian blowing like that on Indian Soil.

Still, a lot of cricket left in Shahid Afridi. Fans and many in the world cricket did not want him to resign. Afridi will make his final decision to get retirement from international cricket after consultation with friends and family. Play or resign but Boom Boom will be chanted forever in cricket stadiums.
